We’re stressing out over vacation planning

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – While vacations are supposed to be relaxing and stress free, a new survey has found that nearly one-third of us are overwhelmed with pre-holiday planning.  The biggest worry is figuring out how to pay for it all.

That’s especially true if you’re planning a road trip considering the skyrocketing price of gas.

Travel writer Camilla Cornell says it’s hard to relax when you have to come home to a mailbox full of credit card statements.  “I think in BC and the northern territories 65 per cent of people said that was their biggest concern about their vacation was how to pay for it.”

Other sources of vacation stress are planning the itinerary, arranging transportation and finding pet care.

Cornell explains there are some easy ways for families to save money.  “…Is looking into staying in a villa or even camping.  But if you’re a family of five, cramming yourself into one hotel room is impossible, some hotels won’t even let you do it.”

She also suggests booking a flight mid-week rather than on the weekend when prices generally go up.
