A second helicopter accident in Alberta in less than a week; three injured

EDMONTON – Three people have been injured, two of them seriously, in two helicopter crashes in Alberta and Quebec.
In northern Alberta, a pilot was injured when a transport helicopter crashed north of Calling Lake Monday morning.
Capt. Al Baldry at the Joint Rescue Communications Centre at Canadian Forces Base Trenton says the helicopter was not involved in battling wildfires.
He says the pilot’s injuries were not life-threatening, but that he was being transported by a helicopter because there are no roads in the area.
It was the second chopper accident in Alberta in less than a week.
Another helicopter that was fighting wildfires crashed Friday into Lesser Slave Lake, killing the pilot.
The Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of that crash.
Meanwhile, another helicopter crashed about 2 p.m. on Monday north of Montreal.
Ann Mathieu, a spokeswoman for Quebec provincial police, says two people were critically injured in the crash and have been taken to hospital.
Mathieu says she doesn’t know whether other people were inside the helicopter. The cause of the crash in not known.
