Vancouver looking for neighbourhood emblems

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The City of Vancouver is looking for symbols for each of its 26 neighbourhoods.  This is all part of a city contest called Tag Your Hood.

The emblems will eventually be used on the city’s website.  The idea behind the competition is for Vancouver to find a new, online way of connecting with people.

People will likely submit beautiful creations, but let’s be creative and a little honest.  So, how about the sidewalk pooping Maltese-poodle cross for False Creek North?  Or the slacking, complaining student out at UBC?

“Two per cent of the kids complaining there is not enough rapid transit, while the other 98 per cent are completely apathetic about everything,” says one student.

A shopping cart and a marijuana joint are both popular emblem choices for multiple neighbourhoods in Vancouver.

The winning entrants will be invited to City Hall during the city’s 125 birthday celebrations.  The contest closes June 24th.
