City expands fan zone to include Georgia Street

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Canucks viewing parties in Vancouver are only going to get bigger.

Starting at two o’clock on Monday, Georgia Street will be closed between Hamilton and Richards, so crews can put up two huge screens and expand the fan zone.

The city hopes the Georgia viewing screens will help move congestion from Granville Street, where thousands of fans gathered Saturday night.

The 17 by 23 feet screen will be installed in the intersection of Hamilton and Georgia. Another screen will be positioned at Homer and Georgia.

Cauldron to be re-lit

The Olympic Cauldron will be re-lit tomorrow to support the Canucks’ run for the cup.

Former goalie Richard Brodeur will join the Premier and the mayor at the ceremony, which starts at three o’clock.
