Ex-pat Canucks fans around the world set for Game 7

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What’s it like for Canucks fans who aren’t in Vancouver today? News1130 asks former reporter Cam MacMurchy, who will take in Game 7 on his computer in one of the most popular resort destinations in Thailand.

“We’re actually going to watch the game at 6:30 in the morning in Thailand time. It’s going to be in Phuket, so it should be quite an experience with the breeze off the sea, and the tropical air, and watching Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final,” he says. “I can’t think of anything more perfect than that.”

Still, MacMurchy, who currently resides in Hong Kong and runs a website for ex-pat fans around the world,  will miss all the hype of being in Vancouver for the big game. He says at least a half dozen bars in Hong Kong will be packed with Canucks fans when the puck drops just after 7:30 in the morning — their time.

“When you’re watching the game on television, and you’re seeing the people gathering on Granville Street and you see the people in Rogers Arena, and you look around the bar that you’re in in Hong Kong or Beijing, it feels like you’re home, it really does,” he says.
