PENTICTON (NEWS1130) – A high school student who was stabbed to death at an unsanctioned grad party early Friday morning has been identified as 16-year-old Andrew McAdam.

A memorial page dedicated to the teen has been flooded with messages from almost 1,000 people. A Bank of Montreal trust account has been set up to help the boy’s family pay for his burial.

CHBC News reports the teen was walking with his friends when another teen, who they knew, approached the group. The family says Andrew’s friend was stabbed first in the arm, before Andrew was fatally stabbed in the chest.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Anyone wishing to donate towards the funeral costs can contact the Bank of Montreal in Penticton, mention the account name “Celeena Verecki in trust for Andrew McAdam” and account number 0736-8991-836.
