VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Last year’s traffic fatality numbers were very low, but sadly this year is back to normal.

Constable Jana McGuinness with Vancouver police says the city recorded its 13th traffic fatality of the year on east Cordova near Jackson Avenue Friday morning. “It was a pickup truck traveling eastbound in the block. For some reason it left the road, struck the curb, and then hit a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”

There were only nine traffic deaths in all of 2010.

Vancouver is on pace for 23 or 24 traffic fatalities this year, which is average compared to recent years.
