The upside to our crummy summer

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – One upside to this not-so-summer-like-weather is we can all breathe a little easier. Aside from air quality there are also a few other pluses to the lack of sunshine.
Ken Reid with Metro Vancouver says there is less smog. “Usually you would see it when we do get the hot sunny weather, and because we haven’t had a lot of hot sunny weather we just haven’t seen the air quality degrade they way it normally would on a hot, sunny July day.”
There are also fewer forest fires blowing smoke in our direction.
Another bonus is fewer sunburns and there is no severe water shortages reported, although there are lawn watering restrictions depending on where you live.
