Several US restaurant chains making kids menus healthier

By

UNITED STATES (NEWS1130) – Healthier restaurant menus for kids are about to get a big boost.

At least 19 large restaurant chains in America will put healthier items on their children’s menus. ABC’s senior health and medical editor Dr. Richard Besser tells us the US National Restaurant Association has put strict guidelines on the voluntary program:

“They’re looking at the types of food to make sure they’re in line with the food guidelines. Increased servings of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, low-fat dairy… these are the kind of things you want your children to be eating.”

Denny’s and Burger King are among the restaurants taking part.
