CAMPBELL RIVER (NEWS1130) – A tragic day at a popular tourist spot on Vancouver Island. A tourist near Campbell River plunged over 100 feet to his death at Elk Falls.

RCMP Cpl. Ron Vlooswyk says it seems to be an accident. “Looks like the gentleman was trying to take some photographs of the river down on the shore, slipped, fell into the water and got swooped down with the current and went over the falls.”

The tourist has been identified as a 42-year-old man from Europe but more details are being withheld until the consulate is notified.
