Chilliwack might get daily express bus commuter service

CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – The operators of the Valley Express say they’re so pleased with passenger numbers, they’re looking into providing a daily commuter service.

The Express was launched in late July, and takes people from Chilliwack to downtown Vancouver on Saturdays and Sundays.

CEO Steve Voteary says a few things have to be worked out before jumping into the commuter business.

“Because we’re running just a single bus right now to see how this works we have to really look at what our departure times are and how to link that up appropriately with the other transportation networks,” he says.

“There are some ideas that we’re working on, because we have introduced a stop at Surrey-Guildford, and so we may be looking at now including in that a commuter service during the week.”

Voteary hopes to have something in place as early as the beginning of September. The original business plan had the Express running until Labour Day.
