Canucks close prospects tournament with loss to Jets

PENTICTON (NEWS1130) – Now the Vancouver Canucks can concentrate on the main training camp. The Canucks’ prospects were blanked by the Winnipeg Jets 2-0 today in Penticton to complete the annual Young Stars tournament.
Vancouver finishes the tournament with a 2-2 record. Shayne Wiebe and Jets’ 2011 first round pick Mark Scheifele scored the goals for Winnipeg. Vancouver played former Surrey Eagle Karel St Laurent in goal for the entire game.
Winnipegs roster included Vancouvers Zachary Yuen who had a good game for the Jets. The former North Shore Winter club standout was The Jets fourth round pick in this year’s draft.
The Canucks officially open main camp with medicals on Friday at Rogers Arena and on-ice sessions Saturday and Sunday. The practices are open to the public with doors opening at 8:30 a.m. both days.
