VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We aren’t number one, but we’re pretty darn close!
New rankings show Canada is one of the best countries in the world in which to be a woman. We are third when it comes to things like education, legal rights, employment, and healthcare; Canada scored 96.6 out of 100.
The Newsweek rankings show Iceland and Sweden have us beat. Our neighbours to the south are eighth in the rankings.
Where are the worst places in the world to be a woman? The African country of Chad was the worst; women there have next to no legal rights and most marriages are arranged when girls are just 11 or 12-years-old.
Afghanistan and Yemen also rank pretty low on the list.
