One in four BC women open to Botox: report

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Botox has been available to Canadian women seeking the fountain of youth for 10 years now. News1130 is looking at a new study that suggests it’s become almost mainstream.

One in four BC women are now open to the procedure, according to the Face Report. Aesthetic physician Dr. William McGillivrary insists cosmetic Botox is safe. “We have studied the effect on the body very carefully and I believe it is a very safe treatment.”

“I don’t have any concerns because I deliver the treatments myself and they are safe. They’re proven, and [results are] reproducible,” he explains.

As accepted as the study finds Botox, not all local women are convinced:

“I don’t think it’s safe,” one woman tells us. “I think we’ll know in 10 or 20 years that it’s not safe.”

“It’s not something I would do. I just believe in aging gracefully. But I think if it suits you, if it’s what you want to do, that’s fine,” says another.

The study also finds nearly 80 per cent of BC women between 30 and 60 say they feel more confident now than 10 years ago. But while they don’t mind getting older, they don’t want to look older.
