Expect traffic delays as long weekend wraps up

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – It could be a frantic day for drivers as everyone heads home from long weekend adventures and BC Ferries is expected to be particularly busy.

The corporation’s Deborah Marshall says it’s been a good weekend so far, thanks in part to good weather and extra sailings.

“But we do expect to see traffic volumes increasing at the Vancouver Island terminals returning to the mainland, as well as at Langdale over on the Sunshine Coast coming back to Horseshoe Bay.”

She says you should get to the terminal at least an hour ahead of time and that goes for foot passengers as lots of university students have to head back home. There are long line-ups at northbound border crossings and on Highway 1 back into the Lower Mainland.
