Young boy assaults another in Abbotsford Costco bathroom

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Abbotsford Police are trying to piece together a bizarre assault at a Costco store last Saturday. The victim is a seven-year old boy.

Constable Ian MacDonald says a dad had a young son and daughter in tow at the Costco on Sumas Way just after noon when his son had to use the washroom.

The dad and daughter waited outside as the boy went into the loo and locked a stall door.

“It looks like a suspect, approximately 10 years of age, crawls underneath the stall, assaults the seven-year-old boy, doesn’t say a word, and then prior to exiting, he actually bites the bottom lip of the seven-year old,” MacDonald explains.

“When you’re in a busier place that may not be equipped with one of those parents’ washrooms, you do face a bit of a dilemma,” he adds. “That said, obviously, it was an extremely traumatic event for the child and the family.”

MacDonald says up to a dozen people may have been in the washroom at the time and they want to hear from them.
