Injured hockey player’s case shot down

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s high court has shot down an appeal from a young hockey player who tried to sue Bauer/Nike Hockey for $10-million. He suffered a serious brain injury in a game back in 2004.

Darren More was 17-years-old and was wearing a Bauer/Nike helmet when he went back first into the boards and smacked his head during a game in Esquimalt. His brain started to bleed.

He’s 25 now and he still needs medical supervision. He claims the manufacturer was negligent in designing or making the helmet and the regulations set out by the Canadian Standards Association weren’t good enough to protect.

The panel of three judges dismissed his claims, saying he didn’t prove them in court.
