Beef up your immune system this winter

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Research in The Lancet suggests the overall effectiveness of the flu shot may actually be around the 60 per cent mark, lower than previous estimates.

It also has found no evidence of a benefit for people over 65. Homeopathic physician Bryce Wylde says there are ways to give yourself some flu insurance.

“[The] number one way in my opinion to prepare for cold and flu season this year is to take Flu Shield, which is the active and very effective clinically studied form of echinacea,” he explains.

He adds prevention is all about getting your body to work better on its own. “The epitome of health is not if and when you get sick; it’s how your body manages that illness. It’s how your body can get over that illness within four or five days, uncomplicated.”

He also recommends plenty of Vitamin D.
