Franson is fine with two goals in Giants victory

SWIFT CURRENT, SK (NEWS1130) – Cain Franson’s power play goal seven minutes into the second period was the game winner as Vancouver edged the Broncos 3-2. The Giants finished their six game road trip with a record of 4-1-1.

Vancouver’s Jordan Martinook and Brad Hoban exchanged goals in the first half of the first period, before Franson potted his first of the evening near the 13-minute mark.

Franson’s 11th of the season was the game winner, as the G-Men out-shot the Broncos 26-11 after 40 minutes. Centre Anthony Ast had two assists for the winners.

Graham Black made it close in the middle of the third period, as Swift Current had 10 shots in the final frame.

Adam Morrison earned the win in the Vancouver goal, making 19 saves.

Don Hay’s group suffered just one outright loss on their six-game eastern swing, as they earned nine points on the 10-day trip.

Vancouver hosts Portland next Friday at the Pacific Coliseum.
