Donations high after Rogers Santa Claus Parade

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Your donations at the 8th annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade yesterday are going to go a long way.  It looks like the giving spirit this year was the same, if not higher, than last year.

Volunteers had to try and keep up with everything that was coming in.

“It looks like the food [donations] might be around the same as last year, but definitely all indications are that the amount of money collected, as well as the new wrinkle of having the text campaign is going to put us over the top,” says Doug Aason with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

It’s still going to take volunteers a few days to go through all the donation cans and count the coins.

Roughly 300,000 people lined Georgia and Burrard Streets for yesterday’s massive event.
