Canucks count on Cory as road trip resumes at Carolina

RALEIGH-DURHAM, NC (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks resume their five-game road trip tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Canucks have added a big forward from the Chicago Wolves farm team with the call-up of Mark Mancari. Mancari, 6’4″ is second on the Wolves in scoring with 21 points.

Cory Schneider will get the start in goal for Vancouver, his first on the current road trip. Roberto Luongo will get the night off despite going 4-0-1 in his last five starts. Look for Roberto to be in goal for Saturday’s showdown at Toronto.

This is the only meeting of the season for the Canucks and Hurricanes. Vancouver won its only game with Carolina last season, 5-1 at Rogers Arena on October 17th, 2010.

The Hurricanes have struggled lately and have been hit hard by injuries. With just one win in their last ten games, Carolina has lost stars Jeff Skinner and Joni Pitkanen indefinitely to concussions. Skinner leads the team with 12 goals and 24 points despite not playing since December 7th. Pitkanen has been out since December 6th.

Carolina currently has the fewest points in the NHL’s Eastern Conference while the Canucks have earned at least a point in 10 of their last 11 games. Faceoff is 4 p.m.
