Tiff as tipsy man tries to do laundry in neighbour’s house

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – There was a bit of an argument Monday when an Abbotsford family came home and found a man doing laundry in their house.

It turns out the man lived in the house next door, but forgot his address after he had a little too much to drink.

“It was one of those subdivisions where the builder has built three or four houses that are almost identical in design and he missed it just by one house,” said Const. Ian MacDonald.  “A little bit of what I would describe as a debate ensued as to whose home they were in and Abbotsford police were able to rectify the debate.”

The man won’t be charged but he’s likely dealing with a severe case of embarrassment.

“There was no criminal intent,” MacDonald said.  “There was intent to maybe use their laundry soap, but in good faith as he thought it was his.”

MacDonald says the man was educated on his house number and the problem was resolved quickly.

“If he were doing their laundry, we might not have received a call at all,” MacDonald joked.  “In fact, it might have been a scheduled appointment for every Monday.”
