Nominate a hero for Courage to Come Back Awards

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It could be a friend, a neighbour or someone you work with; the people behind the Courage to Come Back Awards want to know who inspires you.

Nominations for the 14th annual event are being taken until February 20th.

Coast Mental Health Foundation CEO Britt Andersen says every winner has something in common. “One thing that I’ve noticed is that there’s always unbelievable adversity that a person has faced and they have somehow, through some form of motivation — be it just a great mentor or found it internally — they found the strength to rise up.”

Winners in six categories are recognized. They are: addiction, medical, mental health, physical rehabilitation, social adversity, and youth.

Jerome Bouvier was last year’s winner in the Addictions category.

“It’s an affirmation [of the] journey that you’ve taken to get to one point, right? It’s the Courage to Come Back Award, but as I mentioned in the evening of the event… I see it as more of a courage to move forward. You know, the adversity you face in your life,” he explains.

News1130 is a proud sponsor of the Courage to Come Back Awards, which are being handed out May 17th. We will bring you the stories of the six winners beginning on April 9th.
