Son won’t be charged after stabbing father

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A father from Surrey was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed by his son last night. Surrey Mounties are recommending an assault charge against the dad.

Cpl. Drew Grainger explains why Mounties don’t plan on recommending charges against the 15-year-old boy.

“The son had stabbed his own father in what we understand is self defence.”

A witness told police the boy was in a choke hold when he pulled a Swiss Army knife out of his pocket and stabbed his dad in the chest.

“The son felt his life was in danger. He had access to a pocket knife and he stabbed his father to get him to release his grip.”

The father was taken to the hospital but he’s going to be okay.

It happened around 11:00 in the Green Timbers area.
