Hundreds of complaints force family from Surrey condo

SURREY (NEWS1130) – After hundreds of complaints from neighbours, the BC Supreme Court is ordering a mother from Surrey to sell her condo.

Neighbours claim the woman’s son made pig noises at them, ridiculed their kids and called one woman a fat cow.

One person who lives in the building filed more than 250 complaints against the family by herself.

Another said the son threw water at her as she walked down the hall on two occasions.

The strata council took the case to court in November and asked the BC Supreme Court to make the woman move out of the building.

“I find their behaviour shows a clear intention on their part to harm the Strata and their persistent refusal over four years to abide by its rules are seen in their abuse of other members of the Strata,” said Supreme Court Justice Richard Blair in his ruling.

The woman and her son were not at the hearing.

Blair is giving the woman 30 days to put her property on the market.

“I conclude that the relief sought by the Strata in its petition, draconian as it may be, will be allowed as providing the means whereby harmony may be reinstated within the Strata,” Blair said.

If the defendant doesn’t sell her condo in 90 days, the strata council can sell it on its own.
