VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It has been dubbed the only property and forensic storage facility of its kind in Canada.

This morning Vancouver Police celebrated the grand opening of its new facility on Graveley Street.  It includes blood drying rooms, refrigeration systems for DNA exhibits, forensic car examination bays, and automated document storage units.

The building, which the City of Vancouver bought in 2005, also houses several investigative units including Homicide, Sex Crimes, Financial Crime, Domestic Violence and more.

Roughly 700 staff members will be housed at the new building.  The building used to be home to VANOC while it prepared for the Olympics.

There is also a gift shop where people can buy VPD memorabilia.
