Fundraiser in honour of unsolved murder victim

SAANICH (NEWS1130) – Hundreds may turn up at events planned tomorrow, including a fundraiser, in honour of Lindsay Buziak. This month marks four years since the young and promising realtor was brutally stabbed to death while showing a home in Saanich.

The fundraiser planned by Lindsay’s sister, Sara, and some friends will raise money for Victoria’s Cridge Centre, helping women in transition.

Lindsay’s case remains unsolved but her father Jeff Buziak is running a website for tips. While he says they are still coming in daily, he doesn’t get his hopes up. “Trying to look in the future can be very discouraging at times,” he says. “So I try and look at what’s right in front of me on a daily basis.  This horrific murder of Lindsay is unsolved and it has to be solved.  I don’t take it too much beyond that.”

Buziak says four years later the family is still dealing with devastating grief and loss – and without answers, it’s that much more painful. “She was a wonderful young woman, pursuing her career and doing her job,” he adds.  “She was a realtor with Remax-Camosun here in Saanich.  Somebody called her up to show a home.  She went out and did that and they executed her on the spot.  Left her dead in a pool of blood.”

Buziak says he and some volunteers keep in touch with Saanich Police, and despite some admitted ups and downs with the force over the years, he says their relationship is important in eventually solving the case. Tips are handed to police almost daily.

Buziak is hoping the fourth anniversary of Lindsay’s death will bring forth new details in the case. “It can be totally anonymous.  Please get ahold of myself or Saanich Police.  No little bit of information is not serious enough, we welcome everything somebody has to say about it.  Hopefully there’s somebody out there who can push us just a little further down the road.”

Tomorrow’s trek is a long one, touring much of the Municipality of Saanich. At 10 a.m. walk participants will leave the Royal Oak Burial Park, pass through Mount Douglas Park and past the murder site, to later end up at Saanich Municipal Hall.

Thursday night a fundraiser and silent auction with a $15 entry fee will be held at 6 p.m. at Glo Restaurant and Lounge on Jutland Road in Victoria. Attendees are asked to “Dress for Lindsay.”
