LA coroner won’t release details of Houston autopsy

The Los Angeles coroner said there are no signs of foul play surrounding the death of Whitney Houston, but added officials are not ruling out any causes of death until they have the results of toxicology tests, which could take six to eight weeks to complete.

Houston was found in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Saturday, by a member of her staff.

Police say the singer’s was found underwater and apparently unconscious when she was pulled from a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub.  Authorities found prescription drugs in her room.

Lt. Mark Rosen with the Beverly Hills Police said Houston was pulled from the bathtub and pronounced dead about half-an-hour later.

“As of right now, it’s not a criminal investigation,” he said, refusing to release any further details. “We have concluded our portion of the investigation at the hotel.”

Los Angeles coroner’s assistant chief Ed Winter said there were bottles of prescription medicine in the room. He would not give details except to say: “There weren’t a lot of prescription bottles. You probably have just as many prescription bottles in your medicine cabinet.”

CNN reported a security hold has been placed on the autopsy results at the request of Beverly Hills Police.

The Associated Press is reporting that the singer’s mother has arranged to have her body flown back to Atlanta Monday evening and the funeral may be held on Friday.

Houston’s body was found just hours before she was supposed to appear at a pre-Grammy gala.
