VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Police Department is hunting for a wanted man suspected of breaking into an East Vancouver home and repeatedly stabbing a 73-year-old woman in the middle of the night.

Kenneth Nolan Kirton, 45, of Surrey, is already wanted on multiple charges, including attempted murder, robbery and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Vancouver police say he may have been trying to rob his elderly relative, who lives on Adanac St. just east of Commercial Drive, when he allegedly broke into her home around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police say the suspect fled the apartment and the woman was able to get to a neighbour’s home and call 911. She is recovering from multiple injuries in hospital.

Kirton is Aboriginal, five feet five inches tall, with a thin build. He has short black hair, brown eyes and a scar on the bridge of his nose. He has a tattoo that reads “LOVE” on his left fingers. He was last seen wearing a black jacket. Police say he is known to them and often frequents the Downtown Eastside.

Anyone who sees him is asked not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
