Jets and Canucks meet at Rogers Arena

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Winnipeg Jets visit Vancouver tonight for the first time since 1996. The Jets, eighth in the NHL’s Eastern Conference, enter tonight’s game trying to build on a 6-2-1 stretch and create some breathing room in the playoff race.

The Canucks have lost two straight games and four of their last five to fall out of first place in the NHL’s Western Conference standings with 15 games left in the regular season but play well against the Jets franchise, which moved from Atlanta in the offseason. Vancouver is 7-1-1 in its last nine games against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin have combined for just one assist in the last six games but have played well against the Jets/Thrashers franchise. Daniel has seven goals and three assists in 10 career meetings while Henrik has recorded five points in the past three meetings.

The American Express line is reunited as the Canucks will move forward Chris Higgins back to the second line with Ryan Kesler and David Booth, dropping winger Zack Kassian to the fourth line. Higgins was one of the best Canucks in Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss to Dallas. Mason Raymond is expected to skate on the checking line with Sami Pahlsson and Jannik Hansen.

Vancouver native Evander Kane is one of the hotter Winnipeg Jets lately. The former Vancouver Giant, who was honoured by his old junior team last night had an eight-game point streak come to an end Monday. The talented winger leads Winnipeg with 26 goals.

Game time is 7 p.m.
