Clocks spring forward this weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The clocks spring forward ahead to Daylight Saving Time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, which means we lose an hour.

Experts said the shift in time can be punishing to the body.

Researchers said the best way to cope is to cut back on caffeine, avoid bright light if possible, including computer screens in the evening, and try going to bed 15 minutes earlier starting Friday night.

Also eat a healthy breakfast and head outside to catch some sunlight. These things will enable your body to naturally sync to the change in the environment, which may lessen your chance of adverse health issues come Monday morning.

This is also the weekend you are being reminded to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector.
