The Canucks in Dallas to take on Stars

By

DALLAS, TX (NEWS1130) – The Canucks are flying forward Daniel Sedin back to Vancouver today to see a specialist and get further evaluation after leaving last night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks early with a head injury.

He will not play with his team tonight against the Stars in Dallas.

Sedin suffered the injury in the first period, after Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith elbowed him in the head. The NHL will have a disciplinary hearing with Keith before Chicago’s next game on Sunday. The league is waiting for a full medical report on Sedin before proceeding.

The Canucks will likely follow NHL concussion protocol, keeping Daniel out of the lineup for at least a week.

Any possible suspension for Keith will not be more than five games because the hearing will be conducted over the phone. An in-person hearing is needed to suspend him for longer than five games.

Manny Malhotra will be back in the line-up for the Vancouver in Dallas. He was a healthy scratch in Chicago. Cory Schneider gets the start in goal for the Canucks.

Game time is at 5:30 pm.
