Clark among Canada’s most unpopular premiers: poll

By

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – More bad news for BC’s premier, if you believe polls. A new survey by Angus Reid shows Christy Clark‘s popularity has fallen just as Abbotsford stalwart John van Dongen crosses the floor to the BC Conservatives.

The latest rankings of Canada’s premiers comes a year after Clark was elected leader of the BC Liberals and became premier.

Angus Reid’s Mario Canseco tells News1130, Clark’s popularity has dropped nine points since August to 33 per cent.

“Now she’s only supported by a third of BC residents, which is really low. Usually you should get to about 40 per cent. That is a good number for a sitting head of government,” explains Canseco.

The only premier more unpopular right now is Quebec’s Jean Charest at 27 per cent.

“He has been facing a lot of difficulties lately. He’s definitely suffering because of the education situation that they have right now,” believes Canseco. “This is difficult because, for a while, Christy Clark was number four or five on the list. Now she’s eight out of nine, so definitely not a good year.”

He adds BC NDP leader Adrian Dix is inching closer to a 50 per cent approval rating.

The poll surveyed 800 British Columbians and a total of 6,622 Canadians.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall was once again found to be Canada’s most popular premier. He has an approval rating of 70 per cent.
