Visa & MasterCard warn of credit card security breach in U.S.

By

Visa and MasterCard in the United States are warning banks about a massive security breach, which could involve as many as 10-million credit card numbers.

The warning was posted on a security industry blog, Stateside, but it’s now been picked up by several American news organizations.

The report said Visa and MasterCard began sending out alerts to banks late last week advising them that certain cards may have been compromised.

The breach is believed to have occurred between January 21 and February 25.

A spokesperson for MasterCard Canada told 680News in Toronto it doesn’t look like Canadian cardholders are affected.
