Giants look to extend first-round series

SPOKANE, WA (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants and Spokane Chiefs are preparing to face-off in Game 6 of their first round match-up tonight, as the Giants will try to avoid elimination and force a seventh game.

The Giants won the first two games at home to take a 2-0 series lead. After falling in Spokane in Game 3, Vancouver had a chance to pull within a game of advancing as Brendan Gallagher sent the game to overtime with an equalizing goal in the final minute, but the Chiefs scored in the extra frame to pull the series even.

The two teams returned to Vancouver for Game 5 on Friday night and the Chiefs won their third straight game, 5-1.

Gallagher is leading the way offensively for the Giants. He has five goals and five assists in the first five games. Jordan Martinook is just behind him in the team scoring race, with nine points.

Mike Aviani has been the biggest offensive contributor for the Chiefs with eight points.

Game time is 6 p.m.
