BC Liberals tied with Conservatives: Poll

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Liberals are now head to head with the Conservatives.
An Angus Reid poll pegs Christy Clark‘s government at its lowest popularity since the HST took effect, and predicts an easy NDP win.
Mario Canseco with Angus Reid says a centre-right split is going to favour the New Democrats who already sit at 45 per cent support.
It’s not that Adrian Dix is doing that well (with just one in four seeing him as best leader), it’s that Christy Clark’s popularity has dropped significantly in the last two months.
“She’s dropped five points on the best premier question which is something we haven’t seen before,” Canseco says. “The main difficulty now for the Liberals is that they’ve dropped to 23 per cent which is a tie with the BC Conservatives that is the first time the two centre right parties have been tied.”
He says more British Columbians jumped on board with the Tories after John van Dongen defected early last week, citing failed leadership on the part of the BC Liberals. Canseco adds the notion the BC Conservatives are a rural party isn’t true. According to the poll, a fifth of people in Metro Vancouver are now leaning far right.
The poll of 800 British Columbians was conducted online.
