“Canada’s Got Talent” goes live

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – Citytv’s “Canada’s Got Talent” goes live for the first time tonight. The semi-finalists will perform live in a one-hour show..

Show producer John Brunton says he’s thrilled that tonight’s show will be live for the first time. “I can’t hardly wait for people to see these acts and how they progress from the first time they’ve seen them in the audition shows.”

In terms of what the viewers will see, he says, “We are seeing seven acts from all across the country – from fire acts to rock bands, to opera, to martial arts groups.”

There are 39 acts in total. Two of them are from from the YouTube “Last Chance Auditions” and will be revealed live tomorrow during the first-ever results show.

In tomorrow’s episode, Brunton says, “W will reveal who is going to be moving on to the final round. So, two of those seven will move on.”

Brunton adds that the viewers will now have the power. “The show is now in the hands of Canada; they’re going to decide who moves into the finale.Canada votes, Canada decides.”

Contestants are competing for the grand prize includes $100,000, a Nissan GTR worth $105,000, a Las Vegas show, and an appearance at the Citytv New Year’s Eve bash.

The Canada’s Got Talent app allows viewers to rate acts from their mobile devices as well as track the success of each performer in real time. Starting April 2 for the semi-final round, back stage live streams will be available via the CGT app.
