ROSEMONT, IL (NEWS1130) – Like the parent Canucks, the AHL’s Chicago Wolves are eliminated from the playoffs in game five on home ice. San Antonio takes the best-of-five series 3-2, after a 3-2 double overtime victory.
The Wolves were down 2-0 with a dozen minutes left in the third, but Ridge Meadows native Brad Hunt scored his first professional playoff goal half way through the third period.
Chicago tied the game with goalie Eddie Lack pulled with 68 seconds left in the third period on a goal by Darren Haydar.
Rampage defenceman Roman Derlyuk ended the series just before the five and a half minute mark of the second overtime period.
With the result, the Abbotsford Heat will meet the Toronto Marlies in game one of the next round, starting on May 1 in Ontario.
It is a 2-3-2 format, with game three in the Fraser Valley on Saturday May 5 at 7 PM.
