Jarrod Bacon called ‘brains’ behind drug trafficking

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Jarrod Bacon is being called the brains behind the whole operation. That comment comes from a Crown prosecutor at a cocaine trafficking sentence hearing at Supreme Court in Downtown Vancouver.
Crown Counsel is recommending a sentence of 20 to 21 years, but due to pre-sentence credit, Bacon would only serve between 15 to 16 years. Regardless of whatever sentence Bacon receives, the prosecutor said he shouldn’t be allowed parole for up to 10 years.
The defence is suggesting Bacon be sentenced to just over three years behind bars.
The well-known Abbotsford gangster, dressed in an orange sweatsuit, was in court along with his former girlfriend’s father, Wayne Scott, who Crown thinks should spend between 13 to 15 years in jail. Defence is arguing because both men never physically had possession of the cocaine, there was never a threat it would be distributed in the community, therefore, there should be a lighter sentence.
The potential profit of the nearly 100 kilograms of cocaine Crown claims the men were dealing with was about $8 million.
Due to a series of medical appointments next month, Scott’s lawyer asked that his client’s sentencing be put over until June 8.
Both men were charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine in 2009 following a police sting.
