MIAMI, FL (NEWS1130) – Former BC Lion Cameron Wake has signed a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins that will keep the linebacker in town through the 2016 NFL season.

The 6’3″, 260-lb Wake has played the past three seasons with the Dolphins after spending 2007 and 2008 with the CFL’s Lions. He led Miami in sacks last season with eight-and-a-half. In his three-year career in the NFL he has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles.

During his two seasons with the Lions, Wake emerged as a premier pass rusher, leading the CFL in sacks both years. He also captured the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award following both of his seasons in Vancouver.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Dolphins, but the contract will reportedly pay Wake $49-million, with $20-million guaranteed. He had one year and $650,000 left on his previous deal.
