Anti-HST crusader says PST should be debated in legislature

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Bill Vander Zalm does not like how the finance minister is asking for your trust that everything will return to as it was, now that the HST will be scrapped on April 1, 2013.

The Anti-HST crusader says while all seems fine on the surface, he feels the province is again forcing a tax without debate in the legislature. He adds that the return to the PST could have been done ages ago.

“The HST could be gone very quickly and I think politically it’s rather stupid if I can use that term, since it was used by the minister, to keep delaying the cancellation of the HST,” he stresses.

As for Finance Minister Kevin Falcon calling the PST a “stupid tax”, Vander Zalm has a cutting rebuttal.

“It got more votes than he did so I don’t know which is stupid, the minister or the tax,” he says. “I think we did well fighting the HST and getting back the PST.”
