PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. – A man who hijacked the car of a B.C. actress and smashed it into a building in downtown Vancouver has disappeared after being granted a day pass from a psychiatric hospital.

The RCMP say 34-year-old David Fomradas left the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Port Coquitlam, B.C., on the weekend and never came back.

Cpl. Jamie Chung says Fomradas can be dangerous if he’s not on his medication and police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

In 2009, Fomradas jumped into a BMW occupied by actress Carly Pope and her brother before smashing the car into the Vancouver CBC building.

Fomradas was charged with kidnapping, assault with a weapon and other offences but was found not criminally responsible.

Pope starred in the TV series 24, Outlaw and Californication. (News1130)
