Smooth sailing for BC Ferries travellers

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you waited until today to end your long weekend getaway, getting home should be smoother than the past few days.

BC Ferries is offering extra sailings to bring home the last of the long weekend travellers. There are six extra sailings along the Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay run.

There are four extra sailings from the Mainland and two extra on the Vancouver Island side.

With the Queen of New Westminister back in operation after being off the water since Friday due to mechanical failure, Deb Marshall with BC Ferries doesn’t foresee any problems for travellers today.

At the Peace Arch crossing, there’s 10 extra booths, including two Nexus lanes.

Calvin Leung with Canada Border Service Agency says it’s all about keeping up with demand.

“With the dollar being so good, there is a lot of traffic going South,” he says. “Shoppers aren’t only getting gas but groceries and all of that.”
