VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Surgeons treating ovarian cancer in BC can now use a smartphone application to store and track information about tumours.
Dr. Sarah Finlayson, a surgeon who helped develop the app, says as soon as an operation is finished, surgeons can pick up their smartphones and enter all the information from the procedure in about five minutes.
The application eliminates a chart-review process where doctors had to fill out forms before manually entering the information into a computer.
The patient data is also made available for research into ovarian cancer treatments. (The Canadian Press)
