PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – The family of the man who was saved by a Port Coquitlam MLA is grateful for his life-saving help.
Earlier this year, NDP MLA Mike Farnworth found Mikhail Morokhovich on the ground suffering a cardiac arrest and began performing CPR on him with another bystander until an ambulance came.
“I was thinking ‘don’t die, don’t die, people are trying to save you,'” Farnworth says, tearing up.”He gets to see his kids grow up. That’s pretty special.”
Paramedics say the man would not have survived without the MLA’s help, and Morokhovich’s wife and children thanked the MLA for saving their loved one’s life.
Farnworth says his basic medical skills were essential.
“CPR saves lives. People should learn CPR,” he says. “But most importantly, you know, stop and do the right thing. If you see someone who looks [like they’re] in distress, stop and do the right thing and you can save somebody’s life.”
Morokovitch’s wife and children thanked Farnworth and those who helped.
Paramedics says only one in twenty people survive this type of heart attack.
