VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – They played the game of their lives but the Canadian Women’s soccer team just couldn’t top the number one team in the world.
But the loss doesn’t put the women out of medal contention yet.
The Canadian Women’s soccer team fell to the US 4-3 to extra time at the Olympic semi-finals, but Vancouver Whitecaps’ President Bob Lenarduzzi says today’s game should be viewed as anything but negative.
“Mixed reaction in that it was such a fantastic game, and a great advertisement for soccer, in particular women’s soccer,” he says.
Team Canada’s creating a lot of buzz on Twitter. Captain Christine Sinclair is getting about 50 followers every minute.
The Canadian women will play for bronze on Thursday.
