YVR is the place to take off – for the afternoon

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – YVR may offer a range of places to grab a coffee before catching a flight, it’s also a place to fine dine.
It’s part of the airport’s effort to draw even non-travellers.
The airport’s Christopher Gilliland points out the facility even hosts Take off Fridays, complete with entertainment, food and beverage specials, and music.
“We’re inviting the community out to the airport, even though they’re not travelling they’re actually coming out and just spending a free day of activities out here,” he says.
The strategy appears to be paying off. A recent survey found the airport ranks second among other airports in North America for the amount of money the average traveller spends there.
The airport will be opening two wine bars this year.
