Hastings All-Stars begin play at Little League World Series

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – For some parents, it’s a dream to see their child play at the World Series — even if it is for Little League.

The Hastings All-Stars are representing Canada at the Little League World Series Championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They take on on three-time champion Mexico today.

For Rob Moretto, those games mean a lot to him. He’s not just proud of his son, Steven, who plays short stop on the team; he’s like a father to all of the kids because he was once their coach.

“It’s been a really special experience for me because I’ve been able to work with these kids and their skill development, over the last few years. Personally, with my son Steven, it’s been a real treat because I got to coach my kid.”

It’s not just about sports. Win or lose, Moretto says the players will gain a lot of life experiences.

“[Emotions are] mostly excitement because these kids have done so well, anything that happens from here on is really gravy. These kids have played in some really pressure packed games,” he tells us.
