SURREY (NEWS1130) – It looks like those kittens left in a cooler in Surrey yesterday will survive because the BC SPCA has found their mother.
The SPCA found the frantic mom in the area of Whalley Boulevard and 108th Avenue around 11 p.m. They set out a trap hoping she would come out. Now she’s been reunited with all six of her kittens.
“From a psychological point of view, the mom was just distraught having just given birth and not knowing where they were,” explains the SPCA’s Lorie Chortyk. “[The kittens] were very agitated without her. They are all curled up sleeping right now and they are nursing as well.”

Chortyk says the kittens have already started to gain weight and they will be off to a foster home with their mom to be looked after.
“She is definitely not afraid of people so she appears to be an owned-cat and not a feral cat. But she didn’t have any identification, so we don’t know who’s cat she is…but that will be part of the investigation.”
No tips have come in as to who is responsible for abandoning the kittens.
