VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The record number of people using BC Parks this summer means sites could be even better next year.
The number of campers using online reservations for BC sites hit 100,000 for the first time this year.
“All of the revenue from BC Parks goes to help operate and upgrade the parks,” explains Environment Minister Terry Lake. “We’ve increased our capital budget. We’ve got more money going into that infrastructure this year and the coming years.”
Lake says revenue does make a difference.
“People want to make sure that the washroom facilities are updated, the water facilities and the campsites themselves get an upgrade as well,” notes Lake. “We’ve been working hard on that and will continue to do so into the future.”
Most provincial campgrounds are still open after Labour Day, with seniors eligible for a 50 per cent discount. And if you’re already looking at next summer, circle March 15, 2013 as the date you can reserve a spot online for next summer.
